About Us

We are here to help you settle your Illinois family law case with the counsel of a licensed Illinois attorney experienced in family law using mediation and related techniques. Your case will be handled by an attorney with at least seven years experience. You will have the security of knowing that SOPC is insured for the provision of legal services just as any other law firm. We are an Illinois Professional Corporation in good standing. Your payments to us are secure as they are managed by PayPal (but you do not need to setup an account with PayPal if you do not wish to).

We handle divorces, custody cases and post-decree litigation, such as changes in child support or maintenance, prenuptial agreements and related matters. Likewise, if you need an attorney to draft documents for you and your spouse or former spouse by agreement, we can prepare you marital settlement agreement, joint parenting agreement, retirement or pension plan orders (often called "QDRO's"). If you and your future spouse wish to protect each of your interests through a prenuptial agreement (often called a "premarital agreement"), we have an Illinois attorney to guide you through the process and prepare the document. Even if you and your current spouse wish to enter into a postnuptial agreement, we can draft the document for you. We can help you whether you live in Cook, DuPage, Lake, Kane, Will or any other county in Illinois. See a list of our specific services.

You do not each need to hire an attorney for a divorce or related matter in order to have your rights protected as long as you are willing to have your spouse or other party hear the same thing you are hearing. If you are each represented by an attorney, each of you is likely to hear the same thing anyway, except that each of you will develop a "negotiation strategy," to try and hide the truth and in the end only waste time and money until one of two things happens: one of you gives up your position or, as happens in most case, each of you compromises and meets in the middle. Instead, skip the dance and get to the beginning of the end now. If each of you saves the money you would spend on this "dance", you each have more to negotiate with, and the way to save the money is to be straightforward and equally informed from the beginning. Not only is this less expensive, but you and your children, will also retain your dignity and suffer less psychologically and emotionally.

If you cannot get your spouse or fiancé(e) or partner to join the mediation process, we can assist you alone in drafting a settlement proposal to present to him or her. Perhaps this first step towards settlement will help get things moving in the right direction. You can always go to court afterwards, as practically all negotiations are inadmissible in court. Read more on why you should consider us.
